About the Position

We are seeking finance professionals who have high level of accounting skill and the ability to provide expert financial advice to council in locations across Queensland. There will be over the coming financial year, a number of opportunities, to work in regional and remote locations, providing some unique experiences both professionally and personally.

Examples of some of the responsibilities you will hold will be as follows: 

  • Maintaining compliance with financial management protocols and procedures
  • Providing a main point of contact for accounting related queries
  • Monitoring and advising on Council investments
  • Assisting with preparation and issuance of Council Rates
  • Year-end auditing (internal and external) and statutory reporting
  • Developing financial dashboards and summaries as required by Council
  • Maintaining the General Ledger & Fixed Asset Register
  • Assist with asset valuation
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Review of Quarterly BAS
  • Preparing and posting monthly journal entries including payments and accruals
  • Year-end auditing (internal and external) and statutory reporting
  • Accounting for grant expenditure and revenues
  • Payroll administration
  • Responsible for monthly and annual stock-take
  • Initiation and formulation of financial projects to achieve Council’s goals
  • Developing and reviewing of Council’s financial policies and procedures
  • Providing support and guidance to the Finance Department
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of the monthly Finance Report to the council
  • Assist and support the Director Corporate Service in preparing the  corporate plan, financial forecasts and annual budgets

We are seeking flexible and committed professionals who will add much needed accounting support on a short term basis
