About the Organisation

Peak Services is wholly owned by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and operates as a profit-for-purpose enterpriseWe also represent an increasing number of commercial entities and all State government departments. Currently, Peak Recruitment is working with Norfolk Island (an offshore client) who is looking for an experienced Debt Collection Recovery officer to be based in Newstead, Brisbane and serve this council remotely.

Initially this will be a 12 month fixed contract with the view of extension and/or a chance to become permanent. 

About the Role

As a Debt Collection Recovery officer, you will maximise the collection of funds owing to Norfolk Island Regional Council by providing timely and consistent customer service concerning debt recovery and the resolution of financial hardship applications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Revenue collection
  • Maximising debt collection opportunities
  • Statutory processing 
  • Property record maintenance

About you

We are looking for someone that thinks outside the box and comes up with creative new ways as solutions to problems. You will have a high level of attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly and to prioritize appropriately to meet deadlines. You'll also have sound knowledge of the principles and legislative environment for risk management practices and standards to ensure good governance across local government. 

Requirements for the role will include:

  • Experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Sound knowledge of local government rating principles and practices is highly desirable
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing operating environment desirable
  • Well developed skills in using Windows Microsoft suite and the ability to use multiple programs simultaneously desirable
  • Sound research, analytical, investigative and problem solving skills desirable
