About the Position

The position of Manager Works is accountable to the Director Infrastructure Services and will manage the following responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Director Infrastructure Services in establishing and implementing the strategic direction of the Directorate.
  • Lead the budget development, planning and delivery of capital works including roads, pavement maintenance works and building & construction projects. Ensure ongoing monitoring and control across all areas. 
  • Planning, development and implementation of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) for departmental activities. 
  • Research, review and effectively communicate to the Director and Council the changing expectations of the community on department activities. 
  • Utilisation of human resources to strategically approach staff development and succession planning.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have relevant experience working within the civil engineering construction and maintenance of roads, paths, drainage networks and crossovers with ideally some experience in rural and remote areas.

The role requires an experienced (you could be a Principal Engineer ready to step up or someone in a Works Management role currently) and resilient leader who can build internal capacity and impart knowledge. Understandably you will have strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills and be renowned for your ability to communicate with those with varying levels of education and understanding of the work required.
