About Council 

The Scenic Rim Regional Council is governed by a popularly elected Mayor and Councillors representing each of the region's six electoral divisions. Council Services a region covering 4,254 km2 and over twenty towns and villages with Beaudesert as the major centre and base for council services. The Council currently employs over 380 staff and has an expenditure budget of $103.2 million. The Council plays an important role to improve the thriving economy with the focus on ensuring a strong future for the Scenic Rim and continuing to meet the needs of the community and ensure the best value for ratepayers.

About the Position

This position is accountable to the General Manager People and Strategy and will be responsible for the development and implementation of contemporary and effective HR strategies, policies, and practices. The successful incumbent will ensure compliance to relevant legislation and industrial instruments, facilitate a capable workforce, and enable a constructive and innovative culture. The position will lead the delivery of Human Resource services including recruitment, learning and development and employment relations.

About You

Degree qualified in Human Resources or another relevant field, you will have worked in a similar position in the private or public sector and ideally have experience working in local government. You will be able to provide examples of your success in previous roles and explain how you will apply your leadership style and translate your skills and experience to this role.

Others will describe you as having unlimited drive and energy, with the ability to coach and mentor employees at all levels of the organisation.  You provide expert HR advice whilst striving for continuous improvement in the delivery of HR services.  Your experience and knowledge of relevant legislation and cotemporary human resource management practice will allow you to ‘hit the ground running’.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in HR, Organisational Psychology, or another relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in operational/contemporary HR management roles
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing contemporary HR policies, systems, and processes
  • Able to actively build and maintain positive relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • A high level of enthusiasm; focused on setting the team up for success
