The Role

Reporting to the Senior Irrigation Planner, you will be responsible for the preparation of designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for new and renewal irrigation projects. The role will require a passion for irrigation and some knowledge of and experience in producing irrigation designs for small to large scale commercial landscape projects. In time you will also provide assistance and specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders on design issues associated with council irrigation works. A knowledge of irrigation management as well as maintenance and construction practices would also be highly regarded.

About You

Council is open to the level of experience you may bring to the role and whether this has been gained locally or internationally. Qualified in some aspect of irrigation you will probably be working in one of the consultancies and have experience working as an irrigation designer ideally in the design of public irrigation infrastructure (eg parks, gardens, playgrounds, sporting facilities and urban street scapes). You will be enthusiastic about producing irrigation designs, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates that meet project requirements.

More specifically Council are seeking someone:

  • Already experienced & qualified for the position with CID or CIAG certification, proficient using AutoCAD for irrigation designs and that has worked designing large commercial & local gov landscape irrigation systems

Or alternatively someone:

  • With base skills/experience in irrigation maintenance &/or construction who possesses as a minimum a good pass mark in grade 12 Maths/Physics/English, has used AutoCAD and who has a genuine desire to advance their career in irrigation design and who is willing to commit to a lot of study & professional development.
