The area’s boundaries are the Cook Shire to the north and Douglas Shire to the south. They are located about 4 hours north of Cairns or 1 hour south of Cooktown by road. Wujal Wujal covers an area of 64 Hectares and the Shire has a tropical climate with both dry and wet seasons.

Located between two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Wujal Wujal is where the rainforest meets the reef – a haven for nature-lovers, photographers, and travellers. Population of the Wujal Wujal Community is approximately 400 people. Wujal Wujal is accessible by road via the coastal road across the Daintree River and by inland road.
