About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager Communities, the Manager Planning & Land Management will lead, organise, manage and provide senior management-level direction and oversight for all activities and operations of the planning & land management section.
Your role (with a team of three direct reports) is integral to the ongoing delivery of statutory functions of council, ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and local laws through education then enforcement and the strategic planning for the region. These functions include development assessment, building certification, plumbing, compliance, ranger services, rural land management, and strategic land use.
A secondary role of the Manager Planning and Land Management is the role of Mining liaison officer for council to facilitate discussions regarding new mining operations, extensions to existing operations or plans to cease operations and the post closure aspects

About You
Degree qualified in Urban and Regional Town Planning or similar, you have demonstrated business management skills across a broad range of planning, development and/or land management disciplines including staffing, administration and finance. With high standards of personal ethics and integrity and high levels of discretion and diplomacy you have a proven ability for transparent and professional decision making, a demonstrated capacity to develop and implement planning scheme amendments, policy, procedures and measures, including monitoring/reporting mechanisms, and the processes and practices involved in compliance for delivering on planning and land management matters including capital delivery.
Renowned for your leadership, project planning and management expertise you can highlight a record of achievement in planning scheme amendments underpinned by your comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulations, design standards, and code of practice relating to building, planning, animal management and stock routes, knowledge of industrial relations, equal employment opportunity and work health and safety legislation.
