Townsville City Council's "Civil Delivery" department is responsible for maintaining and constructing civil infrastructure within the council area. Strong fiscal management will be a core focus of both short- and long-term planning for the city during the 2024/25 financial year, with every action undertaken focused on meeting the needs of their residents today without impeding residents’ needs into the future.
The Position
Reporting to the General Manager Construction Maintenance and Operations you will play a key role in advising the Senior Leadership Team and working collaboratively across the cohort to champion Council’s purpose of Growing Townsville and to delivering the Corporate Plan in consultation with the Townsville community. Underpinning everything you do will be to deliver exceptional customer service to the community, whilst continuing to innovate and create value in all work undertaken by Council.
As the Team Manager Civil Delivery, you will work for a highly respected leader and manage construction and maintenance teams (150 staff) across all civil delivery activities and projects. This position offers a genuine chance to broaden out your experience and expand your learning and expertise in civil delivery. Leading and galvanising the team at every level you will demonstrate your leadership skills and ability to drive cultural change. If your goal is to ultimately be one of the leaders in civil delivery and maintenance this is a role where you can realise your ambitions and leverage yourself into more senior roles within Council
About You
As a qualified engineer with ideally both private and public sector civil construction experience your career has developed to the point where you are now renowned as someone who enjoys and is effective in a leadership role. With a passion for the environment and for the role reliable civil infrastructure and its maintenance plays you can demonstrate where your innovative ideas and solutions have benefitted communities through better processes, cost efficiencies and capability.
Confident and resilient, you will lead the team through a transitional phase balancing the priorities of delivering a significant portfolio of capital and maintenance projects including DRFA works whilst improving efficiency and effectiveness to build on the existing team capability. Underpinning this will be creating a culture that allows you to make decisions that matter so together you can play a role in shaping the lifestyle of Townsville City.
