About Hope Vale
The Wujal Wujal community is in the Cape York region on the banks of the Bloomfield River and is surrounded by high mountains, waterfalls, river tributaries and creeks. The area’s boundaries are the Cook Shire to the north and Douglas Shire to the south. They are located about 4 hours north of Cairns or 1 hour south of Cooktown by road. Wujal Wujal covers an area of 64 Hectares and the Shire has a tropical climate with both dry and wet seasons. The wet season extends from November to May with peaks from February and March. The dry season is from June to October. Average temperature is 30°C with an average minimum of 23°C.
Located between two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Wujal Wujal is where the rainforest meets the reef – a haven for nature-lovers, photographers and travellers. Population of the Wujal Wujal Community is approximately 280 people. The main clan group languages are Kuku Yalanji, Kuku Nyungul and Jalunji. English is widely spoken by all and the older people still speak Kuku Yalanji in the community.
Wujal Wujal is accessible by road via the coastal road across near the Daintree River and by inland road. There is a private airstrip 20km from the Shire. The Shire can also be accessed by sea.
The present community of Wujal Wujal has existed on the site for many hundreds of years and is set around the highly sacred waterfalls of Wujal Wujal meaning ‘many falls’ in the local language.
About the Position
As Coordinator for Community and Disability Support you’ll be looking after some of the most important people in their Community.
This role will be responsible for the coordination of in-home support services which delivers a range of programs that support eligible residents of Wujal Wujal who are aged or need support to live independently in the community. Services are provided to residents in ways that assist them to connect with their community and/or continue to live independently in their home.
You will manage the day to day operations of Council's in-home support service to ensure that an efficient integrated range of care is provided to eligible residents who have been assessed as requiring support.
Critical to your success and pivotal to this role will be your demonstrated experience and knowledge of quality standards, residents’ rights and responsibilities and delivering outcomes in a client centred, community-based care service delivery environment.

The Council are looking for a person who has what it takes to make a difference in their clients’ lives (Monday-Friday). Renovations are about to start on the Community Care Centre and a new Aged Care Centre is planned so you can look forward to leading the next era of care for the clients in Wujal Wujal.

- Completing a quality review this year
- Staff training – ensuring systems and process are in place and that staff are following these and embracing the available technology
- Ensuring staff feel valued and are supporting clients in every way possible
- Establishing a financially responsible mandate that ensures the ongoing viability of this important function.
