About Council
Cloncurry Shire Council is a progressive, community-responsive organisation located in the heart of Queensland’s North-West. With a strong financial position and a commitment to continual improvement, the Council delivers a wide range of services including infrastructure, water and sewerage, childcare, aerodrome operations, saleyards and vibrant community events. The Council is led by a Mayor, and five Councillors, supported by an experienced Executive Team.
Cloncurry itself is a region of opportunity—rich in history, culture, and economic diversity. With a population that’s grown by 20% and a capital works budget quadruple of many larger councils, Cloncurry is a place where things happen.
The Position
This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-performing Council with a strong reputation for delivery and innovation. As CEO, you will be responsible for the overall management of the organisation, ensuring alignment with the Corporate and Operational Plans, and driving strategic initiatives across infrastructure, economic development, and community services.
You’ll work closely with the Mayor and Councillors, lead a capable Executive Team, and represent Council in key stakeholder relationships. Major projects include the Scar Street redevelopment, airport upgrades, and the transformation of the John Flynn Centre. The role offers a unique chance to influence regional prosperity and community wellbeing.
