The Position

Reporting to the Manager you will lead a diverse range of industrial relations matters, and provide practical, timely advice to line managers. The organisation maintains high standards in its management of IR cases, resulting in very few matters escalating to the Commission. The role will require strong technical skills in IR case management and the ability to integrate easily into a Council environment should you come from outside of local or state government. More specifically the role will focus on:

  • Reviewing ER/IR cases and recommending appropriate processes.
  • Drafting formal correspondence (letters of allegations, grievances, expectations, show cause, etc.)
  • Attending and supporting formal meetings.
  • Providing EBA / Award interpretation.
  • Building the capability of a small IR team through knowledge sharing.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to the separate HRBP team.

About You

You are proactive, collaborative, with able to influence across all levels of the organisation. Known for your ability to roll up your sleeves, you work problems through to resolution and deliver sustainable outcomes. 

A few prerequisites include:

  • In depth knowledge of the Qld IR Act and/or the ability apply legislative instruments in a local government setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking workplace investigations.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including unions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, process driven, and a clear, engaging communication style.

An hourly rate of circa $75 + Super dependent upon experience will be offered to the successful candidate.
