About Council
Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an Interim Director of Infrastructure to lead a team of internal staff and external consultants/project managers and work with government agencies to ensure on time, on budget delivery of building and water infrastructure projects. Located in Central Queensland and just over 2 hours from Rockhampton, Woorabinda is a proud Aboriginal community with a population of around 1,000 residents and a deep cultural heritage. With a committed Council, strong funding pipeline, and a community eager for progress, this is a rare opportunity to lead a Council that is ready to thrive.
The Role
You will report to the interim CEO and deliver on a variety of projects currently underway. As a member of the Executive Management Team, you will actively contribute to the strategic and performance management of the organisation; provide leadership and foster cooperation and communication across all departments. In short, provide a steady hand until the permanent position is recruited across projects in the following areas:
- Water & Wastewater ($36M water treatment plant)
- Building and Infrastructure (commencement of exciting new housing project)
The role is about focusing on what ‘can be done’ and delivered vs continuing to chase additional projects.
About You
You will have worked in a similar position in Local Government and have the leadership skills, engineering/construction/building knowledge, and experience to ‘hit the ground running.’ Others will describe you as someone who leaves their ego at home and who has a calm and professional disposition, a measured sense of urgency and a history of meeting agreed deliverables. Council has a mandate to follow best practice in everything they do and there is a dedicated team in place for you to work with and support.
You will be provided with flights, accommodation, vehicle, and a generous daily rate of $960 + Super.
How to Apply
You will be required to answer a few questions that relate to the criteria on the online application below. Please note that you cannot submit your application without attaching your resume. A cover letter is not mandatory, but may be added if so desired. When uploading your Resume or documents please ensure file names should only include 'A-z', '0-9', '.' and '-' characters.
