About the Role
Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an experienced Local Government professional with expertise in Business Development and Economic Growth. This interim senior leadership role will focus on strengthening local business initiatives and driving financial sustainability for the Council, while contributing to long-term community development goals.
What You will Do
This is a hands-on role where strategic thinking meets practical execution. A short handover will be provided, and please note Council closes for two weeks over Christmas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop Council’s corporate assets. (Service Station, Motel and Batching Plant systems and processes)
- Support RAES (Remote Australia Employment Service)
- Support RAES (Remote Australia Employment Service) under the auspice of the Palm Island Community Economic Development Foundation Ltd – an independent Council led initiative.
- Oversee operation of business units, including staffing reviews with the P&C Manager and improving business systems and processes.
- Identify new revenue streams, optimise asset management, and implement productivity improvements across operations.
