About Council

Maranoa Regional Council is entering a new era - one defined by transparency, accountability, and bold transformation. As a member of the HR team, you will be a part of this change as you engage with workers across the region, and drive smarter, more efficient ways of working.

If you are already working in HR and ready for a ‘step up,’ this role offers genuine breadth, meaningful impact, and the opportunity to embed strong HR foundations across a dynamic organisation. Council is offering a rare opportunity for an emerging or experienced HR leader to accelerate their career in a role with true scope, mentorship, and influence.

About the Role

As a Business Partner, People & Capability, you will play a vital role in delivering HR services and contributing to strategic and operational goals across Council. The work is varied, meaningful, and high‑impact.

Supported by the Manager P&C you will learn how to assist leaders with employment advice, contribute to enterprise bargaining, shape policies, guide investigations, enhance HR systems, and provide workforce data insights to senior leaders.

You will also be involved in key HR projects - such as updating policies, improving onboarding processes, supporting the workforce plan, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Every week you will build relationships across multiple locations, becoming a trusted go‑to person for managers and staff.

A Glimpse of Your Workday

You might:

  • Support a manager in interpreting industrial instruments or navigating a performance issue.
  • Review and develop People & Capability policies to reflect best practice.
  • Collate, validate, and analyse workforce metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Assist with position descriptions, PD reviews, or classification assessments.
  • Lead or support workplace investigations under guidance from the Manager P&C.
  • Prepare workforce reports for ELT, the CEO.
  • Travel across the region to build relationships and strengthen HR presence.

You will be a great fit if you:

  • Hold HR qualifications and/or have gained some HR experience in either a large corporate, Local or State Government and keen to expand your skills and knowledge.
  • Understand (or are eager to learn) employment legislation, industrial instruments, and HR frameworks.
  • Bring professionalism, confidentiality, and strong people skills.
  • Are adaptable, organised, and confident engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Want to build a long-term HR career with mentorship and real growth opportunities.
  • Embody Council’s values of respect, empathy, transparency, accountability, and innovation
