About The Role:
As the GIS & Asset Management Coordinator you will report to the Director of Corporate and Community Services and will have direct responsibility for an Asset Management Officer. The position will see you manage the development, maintenance and integration of the GIS and Asset Management systems with current IT systems where possible.
- Understanding of lifecycle construction, maintenance and servicing activities for various assets e.g. traffic, stormwater, floodplain, open space and recreational facilities.
- Investigate and report on Asset Management performance measured against industry benchmarks and agreed performance indicators.
- Formulate, develop and manage methods to automate and standardise the provision of information to customers using GIS.
- Create custom tools and applications for streamlined management, storage, analysis and reporting of Council's GIS data.
- Consolidate existing asset data bases and formulation of methodology to effectively record asset data.
- Develop and review policies and standards on asset management issues.
- Prepare technical specifications, contract documents and consultancy briefs.
- Presenting and reporting financial information effectively.
- Research and make recommendations to management on appropriate best practice asset management and maintenance systems.
- Training and mentoring of team members and colleagues.
About You:
Possessing strong communication skills, the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and the capability to review and streamline practices. This role demands a strategic thinker and an adept leader capable of managing multiple functions daily and adapting to change. Proficiency in developing and maintaining GIS and Asset Management Systems is crucial.
- Capability in developing custom tools and applications for efficient data management.
- Aptitude in analysing and reporting on Asset Management performance.
- Capacity to contribute to budget development and asset data consolidation.
- Competence in managing consultants, asset condition inspections and corporate spatial information services applications.
- Skill in assisting Infrastructure Services department to meet financial and performance targets.
- Ability to make informed decisions on complex issues, considering relevant policies, budgets and stakeholder impact.
- Awareness of contemporary strategies for planning Council assets and implementing capital works and an understanding of the social and political framework of council.
- Skillful in identifying initiatives to enhance asset and spatial (GIS) information management efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability for applying creative solutions and practices.
- Ability to work autonomously with a high level of computing knowledge including ESRI ArcGIS and Enterprise, Microsoft Suite and programming languages (SQL, VBA/MapBasic) and SQL databases.
- A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline with relevant work experience
